Q & A
Counter
Q: Are there any additional expenses?

A: Yes. Besides the Membership fee, you will be responsible for the expenses of  the on-site final. You will have a
choice of locations to take your on-site final: your area, or your trainer's. Either way, you pay travel and lodging
expenses.  (Just like going away to college only 3.7 years shorter and $87,000 less.)

There will also be 3 books and one DVD to watch. Books may be purchased used, and you can watch the DVD on
line for less than $5.00.

After you graduate, you will begin to pay the monthly Association dues of $50.00 per chapter after 90 days.
Q: Am I guaranteed a job upon completing the training or
certification?

A:
If there is an operating Chapter in your area and they accept
you as an Independent Contractor, yes you have a job waiting
for you. If you are opening your own Chapter, we are going to do
everything we can possibly do to prepare to be an MT and will
even come to
your area for Certification so we can turn training
hosts into clients. But your success after training is up to you,
just like a law student or doctor must set up his or her own
practice and get clients.

Q: I do abstract art. Why do I have to do representational?

A: I do abstract myself. But it's not about what we like, it's about
what works for the client. The word "representational," when
used to describe a work of art, means that the work depicts
something easily recognized by most people, like flowers or
landscapes.

When I started 8 years ago, I just let the patients do creative
expression and of course, most of it would be considered
abstract. (like the example on the left) I was thrilled with it, but the
other patients and staff clearly did not understand nor
appreciate it. When someone did a painting that was
representational, the "applause-o-meter" went way up and the
client seemed more pleased and satisfied with their work.

Interestingly enough, when I started encouraging
representational work and started giving "instructions," we
started seeing the amazing results.
If you are still interested in
getting to the application, watch the video below and click on the
underlined text.
The samples you send me should be "representational" like the
paintings you've been seeing on this site. I'm looking for a
certain skill level, creative use of color and good composition.
Please don't send pencil drawings or collage. If you send your
samples with your application, things move pretty fast.

We're looking for people who can work without supervision. If
you're the type of person that procrastinates and you just don't
get around to sending in your samples, well, you've just
answered the question if you are the right person for the job.

Artist Reconnects to Her World

This lovely lady was an artist, but she had lost the
ability to communicate (receptive and expressive
aphasia) or understand information she was receiving
from her senses. (agnosia).

Although she made eye contact and responded to
physical cueing, at the beginning of the session, she
seemed disconnected and would drop the brush and
stare off into middle space. We were thrilled that we
captured the moment when she began to move the
paint brush independently. You can almost see the
brain engage.

By the end of the session, she was speaking in
complete sentences, was proud of the painting she
had done and had reconnected.
Katie Toohey, Delaware Valley, PA. Can you
believe this is the same lady as above?
You got it right! Don't worry you didn't do the other two questions, just keep reading, you are almost done!

Q: Anything else I need to know?

A: Yes. This is a hands-on type of business. Clients may sneeze, cough and even drool on you. We have found
through experience that individuals who have been eating the Standard American diet have:

  • weakened immune systems and get sick easily
  • have memory problems
  • shortened attention span
  • get tired quickly and rely on coffee for energy to get through the day

We also believe that the consequence of generations of families eating processed, dead, factory-produced and poor
quality fast food and other such factors have created this epidemic of autism and Alzheimer's.

So our cause and curriculum has broadened into nutritional education for both the students and for families with
autistic children. Although you are not required to change from the way you are eating, you will be learning to be a
resource to parents of autistic children to help them nourish their children back to health. We're hoping the evidence
will be compelling enough for you to want to make changes ( if needed) as well.

Later, a Balanced Life Coach Certification will be available to those with a passion for changing lives through nutrition.

You have to go back read it all!
If you can't view the movie, don't worry, that's not how you get off
this page!
Q: How realistic is it to pay off my membership fee with
recruiting?

A:
It all depends on how persistent you are. For example, I try to
post 10 ads on Craigslist at a time and do that 3-4 days a week.
In ONE month, I received 33 applications. Out of those, 17
completed the process and were accepted. (That included sending
in samples, having the artistic skill and participating in the phone
interview)

Out of the 17, only 5 of those put down a deposit and started the
curriculum. 4 out of the 5 were my recruits. One left the program
after one week.

What does that mean to you as an apprentice? If those 3 were still in
the program when you paid your balance, they would be worth
$1,500 or half the Membership fee.
Q: How much can I expect to make as a MnemeTherapist?

A: That's a hard question to answer since there are so many
variables. How much you will make depends on what type of area
you live in, how many hours you work and if you chose to become a
Master MnemeTherapist.

You will be getting your own accounts in two ways: asking facilities to
be training hosts and doing demos. If your trainer comes to your
area, he or she can help you turn the training hosts into accounts.
We also have brochures and introduction letters you can download
and send out.

Expenses are quite low compared to other businesses, basically,
painting supplies, gas, insurance and any paid advertising you
chose to do, although it's not required.

After you have successfully launched an AWB chapter, after 3
months, you can apply to become a mentor with the designation of
Master MnemeTherapist (MMT).
.MMTs earn 75% of the tuition for
each artist recruited, trained and certified.

If you are able to pay your tuition in full  within 30 days of your
acceptance, you can advance to the designation of MMT at no
additional cost, a savings of $1,200.

Another smart idea that one student came up with was our "Donor"
program. Your Donor gets the tax credit from our non-profit, you get
your tuition and MMT designation paid.
