Art Without Boundaries
Q & A
Q: Is the certification you award recognized by the Government?

A: As mentioned earlier, MT is not Art Therapy, which is a psychological process and needs
extensive training and licensing by the state.

Although we consider MT a
therapy, which is defined as: "healing power or quality," the
process: singing, painting and storytelling falls under the umbrella of
activities, every day
stuff that does not require a license or supervision by any government.

Your Chapter will receive a license from AWBA to operate an AWB Chapter

.
Q: Is this a franchise?

A: No. AWBA is non-profit, professional association seeking to further MnemeTherapy and
the interests of individuals engaged in that profession.
AWBA provides training, certification of competency, Licensing of the AWB Chapter and
continuing education. You will be operating your own private practice that will be part of a
Professional Association to which you will pay dues. Membership in AWBA grants you the
right to use the name Art Without Boundaries, MnemeTherapy and the process of
MnemeTherapy.

Once you graduate, your business is your own. You will be invited to join the membership
and sign an Membership agreement and the Code of Ethics. Beyond that, we do not assign
or protect service areas or control your business in any way.

In addition to allowing you to use the name Art Without Boundaries and the process of
MnemeTherapy, paying monthly dues:
  • Entitles your chapter to receive a page on the AWBA website. Your page will include
photos taken during training, and photos you send in after you begin servicing
    accounts.
  • Participate in any AWBA sponsored fund raiser going on. Most return 100% of
collected funds to your chapter to provide scholarships that you may use at your
    discretion.
  • Benefit from nation-wide advertising or media coverage of AWBA.
  • Get access to 3 blogs that provide you with AWBA news and success stories,
continuing education and the latest in MT techniques.
  • Involvement in governance, full voting rights, may serve on  Council or committees
  • AWBA has tax exempt status under section 501 c 3 of the Internal Revenue Code. You
will have the ability to send potential donors to the website to make tax deductible
    contributions.

Q: If I got started and decided this wasn't for me, could I get a refund?

A: Anyone can walk away whenever they please and if they are making payments, do not
have to pay their balance, but the
membership fee is non-refundable.  I include this
question (that someone really asked) because I want everyone to do their homework and
make sure they are "called" to do this work. If you have never been around nursing homes or
autistic schools, you need to volunteer or at least visit. Make sure this is where your heart is.
I love what I do. I love to see smiles on those wrinkled faces and the loving hugs of my autistic
clients. I don't mind that they might drool or fart or pick their nose. But not everyone feels that
way. If you are impatient, can't stand imperfection, are put off my people who are not
"normal" or expect to get rich, you better look elsewhere.

Q: Will there be other MnemeTherapists working in my area?

A:
By law we cannot exert control over your business or dictate where you work. We can
however make it clear to everyone that since we work in nursing homes, assisted living
facilities, rehab centers, adult day centers, autistic schools/ programs and with individuals
who are willing to pay for the service, there is limited market. Each applicant needs to do their
homework to see if there are enough of these potential places within driving distance. At the
same time, you need to decide that if there is an established chapter or a student already
studying there, if it would be wise to try to compete for those limited resources? Just like if
you wanted to open a non-branded coffee shop, would it be prudent to open it next door to a
Starbucks?
Some Chapters have grown to the place where they are looking for independent contractors
to help in their Chapter. By checking the registry below you can see if there's a Chapter or
student in your area. If it is, you are free to apply to work for the Chapter (good news, the
Associate Membership fee is only $500.00 if you work for an established chapter.) Students
are in blue and cannot hire until 3 months after graduation.

If there ISN'T a Chapter in your area, and you are accepted into the
program, you will open an AWB Chapter yourself!

OK! You've almost made it!!

I doubt if I've answered all of your questions, but you'll have the chance to ask anything you
want  during our interview, when you get to talk to me personally.
Here's how to finish the process:

  1. Click here to check the Registry-  Use your back button to return
  2. Click here to fill out the application Make sure you tell us how you found out
about it and if the ad you read had a PIN make sure you fill that in so we can give the
person who is recruiting the credit. Note: We are asking for your county not your
country. If you are MAC user or for any reason can't access the application, email me
and we'll set up a time to take your application over the phone. awbf@bellsouth.net
  3. Send 3 samples (if you are an artist) of your representational work ASAP. If I don't
get a website or some samples sent to awbf@bellsouth.net, the application doesn't get
processed and you read all this for nothing. If you aren't an artist and you got on this
recruiting tract by mistake, just tell me in the comments that you plan on hiring artists
and I'll not look for the email. All the artists that you hire will have to fill out an
application and be accepted before you employ them.
  4. Return my call. I will be testing you to see how persistent you are. If I call you and
you don't call me back, the deal is off. I don't chase potentials. I have to see that you
really want this and know that you have follow-through.

No more torment, I believe you can read!

OK! You made it this far! This is the last page of questions. Almost there!
