Mary Jussel, Boise, ID

I grew up in California and graduated from The University of California, Davis
in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Studio and an elective emphasis
in the biological sciences.

The following year I moved to Boise, Idaho and learned about the orthotics
profession. (Evaluating for and fabricating braces for limbs that need support
for improved function, protection, healing or growth.)  I went on to attend
Chicago’s Northwestern University to earn a post graduate certification in
orthotics. I returned to Boise, and have worked as an orthotist there ever
since [except for a 5 year break (2002-2006) to focus on my beautiful
daughters, Claire and Anna and my wonderful husband, Craig]. The field of
orthotics has allowed me to enjoy patients from infants to the elderly with a
wide variety of diagnoses including Alzheimer's, cerebral palsy, stroke,
autism, traumatic brain injury and more.

I have continued during this time to entertain my artistic interests through
painting, fused glass, and teaching art at my children's elementary school.

Art Without Boundaries provides an exciting opportunity for me to combine
the patient experience and knowledge gained in the field of orthotics with my
artistic side to help and share in an artistic and compassionate way with so
many wonderful people in my community.
