Mary Jane Walker, Brooksville, FL I was born in Virginia, but have lived most of my life in Florida. I have been living in Brooksville, Florida since 1988. I live on a small ranch with my wonderful, supportive husband, Michael, and thirteen animals. I am a retired high school art teacher of 32 years and I wanted to continue making a difference bringing the joy of art to the hearts and minds of others. My sister, Kathryn Kelly, had been working through the Art Without Boundaries Association in Lee County area in Florida for the past three years and loves what she is doing. It seemed to be the perfect direction for me, too. I completed the curriculum, was certified as a MnemeTherapist and have begun my new rewarding career. I love the positive response of each person with whom I have been able to work. Each person feels capable, proud, and excited about what he/she accomplishes. The families, caretakers and friends see the whole MnemeTherapy process making a difference in the people they care about. It makes positive changes and specializes in helping those with Alzheimer’s disease, Autism, stroke recovery, brain disorders and other disabilities. Working through the Art Without Boundaries Association program has given me a new sense of joy surrounding art and the excitement and pride that each person feels when he/she creates beautiful artwork. I am blessed with this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. My service area includes Hernando, Pasco, Citrus, & Sumter Counties |
