Lydia McKinley- Lima, Ohio

I was born in Indiana and raised in Ohio. I still reside in this fickle-
weather state. I had big dreams of moving elsewhere once…but
love does funny things.

I’ve been doing art since I can remember…it runs in my family. My
grandmother, aunt, and mother are all very talented artists. I
always had a feeling art would be in my life even though I tried to
fight it. I think every artist hears it at least once… you know the
“starving artist” phrase or “Oh that’s nice, what are you going to
do with that?” So I tried to talk myself into wanting to do other
things but it just didn’t work.
I graduated high school and was blessed with tuition free
schooling at Bluffton University. (My mom sold our house to the
university with the condition I would receive free school. THANKS
Mom!) I graduated in 2006 with a BA majoring in Art and minoring
in Graphic Design. I had hoped to move for better job
opportunities, but in my junior year I rekindled a relationship from
high school. We were united in marriage August 2007 and reside
in Lima, Ohio with my wonderful five year old son.

I have been working as a Graphic Designer in a local print shop
for the past two years. Although I enjoy working on the computer, I
have been feeling a desire to do something else. I mentioned
earlier that my mother is an artist, well, my father is a
psychologist. He instilled in me a passion to understand the
human mind. I have always been fascinated with the mystery.

I feel this opportunity to be a part of AWB feeds both my passions.
God has blessed me with a kind, patient, and serving heart along
with an artistic talent. I am more than ready to use all of those
things to make differences in others’ lives. I am very excited to
embark on this new journey.
