Dayle Sundberg, Master MnemeTherapist

I am a South Dakota native who graduated in 2003 with a BFA
Art/Sculpture Specialization at the University of South Dakota. My art
evokes conversation and promotes viewers to engage the healing
process of past traumas and educates the public about mental illnesses.
I have over 20 exhibitions to my credit in South Dakota and Minnesota.

My husband Chip and I have two teenage sons, Nathan and Ryan and a
very active five year old daughter, Hannah. I also own and operate Design
by Dayle, creating unique interiors for clients and custom artworks.  I am a
Red Cross volunteer and a local community volunteer, just recently
completed the first mural in my hometown, with the help of local children.

Once I discovered Art Without Boundaries it seemed like a perfect fit to
accompany my current work and a natural progression in my life and
career.  My mother was diagnosed with dementia in 1994 and lived at
home until it was no longer possible. Not until she was in a locked
Alzheimer’s Unit did I fully appreciate the overwhelming effects of the
disease and those inflicted with similar disorders, as well as their
caregivers.

My mother was a self-taught artist and upon discovering Art Without
Boundaries, I  wished my mom and fellow residents would have had
access to something like this wonderful opening of the mind.  I believe Art
Without Boundaries is on the edge of something larger than we can
completely comprehend and I hope that my experiences can assist
caregivers and families, as well as recipients of MnemeTherapy.
